PASTOR'S PONDERINGS JANUARY 2026

Pastor’s Ponderings –

John 8:12 tells us, “When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, ‘I am the Light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the Light of life.”  We all need direction, and without the Lord, we walk in darkness.

Direction is something that we think about as a new year begins.  When we begin something new, whatever it is, we want to know what direction it’s going to go in, because we crave direction.  We don’t want to wander aimlessly in anything we do.  We don’t like feeling lost, we don’t like the unknown.

As 2026 begins, we want to know, what direction we’re going.  What direction will the country go?  What hidden surprises lie ahead for us in this New Year? However, no matter how hard we try, it’s impossible to know what direction life is going to go.  It’s uncertain; we don’t know what’s around the bend.  So how do we deal with this in light of the fact that we crave direction?  We don’t like feeling lost.  1 John 1:5-7 says, “This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is Light; in Him there is no darkness at all.  If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.  But if we walk in the Light, as He is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His son, purifies us from all sin.”

The good news is, we can know our direction if we walk in the light of His life.  If God is our life, then He is our light.  If God is our light then He is our direction.  He knows the way through the next day, the next month, and the next year.  We don’t have to know what’s around every turn, God knows, and He’s already been there.  Seriously, the question is not, what lies ahead, or what does the future hold.  The question is, what do you crave?  Do you crave direction, or do you crave Jesus who is our direction?  We all want the answers.  But do we spend this next year searching for answers, or do we spend it sitting at the feet of the One who is the answer?  See, there’s a big difference.  One way is a subtle trap that takes all our time and drains us of all our energy.  And the other way brings peace and rest.  Jesus said, and still says today, that He is the way, and the truth and the life.

As we begin this New Year, let’s walk in the light of His life.  Jesus knows the way.  Blessings to you in 2026!

Blessings to you all,

Pastor Steve
